    Agouti´s collect nuts and seeds from different plants and bury them to eat later. They just sometimes forget where it is. Then a new plant grows from it.

    Félix de Azara

    These animals are named after Spanish biologist Félix de Azara. This is not the only species named after him: there are four other species that bear his name.

    On the run

    Actually, we know very little about Azaras agouti. There are many animals that hunt them, making them very alert to anything that moves around them. In the wild, they quickly flee when they see someone. When danger threatens, they make a barking sound to alert the rest.
