Under mother's belly shield

The blue vampire crab lives along streams and rivers. Although vampire crabs also live on land for much of their lives, they also need water. When the female has eggs, she carries them under her abdominal shell, where the larvae develop into tiny crabs. When the mother releases the tiny crabs, they are already developed to the point where they can fend for themselves independently.

More and more color

Because the shell of these animals does not grow with them as they develop, they regularly scale. That means they crawl out of their old shell and grow a new hard outer shell. With each shaling, more color will also be seen, making them look more and more like the adults. Vampire crabs live in large groups, so you will not often see them on their own.
