Social

A group of ring-tailed lemurs usually consists of 15 to 20 animals. Females remain in the group in which they are born throughout their lives. Males move from one group to another every two to five years. The animals within a group are very social. They play with each other, communicate and groom each other's fur.

Meow

Ring-tailed lemurs make a peculiar sound very similar to a cat's meowing. They are therefore called "katta" in some countries. They can also purr. In addition to sound, ring-tailed lemurs also make extensive use of scent to communicate with each other.
