A swamp wallaby is almost always on its own. Very occasionally they are seen eating together. They eat soft plants, such as buds, leaves, grasses and ferns.
A young is born after about 35 days, but continues to grow in the pouch for another 8 to 9 months. A female may have a young in the abdomen as well as in the pouch. Very occasionally, twins are born.
