Away you go!

White-faced sakis are not very large. Therefore, they can easily be attacked by birds of prey, for example. For safety, the lemurs stay hidden among the leaves as much as possible. If they are nevertheless threatened, they try to scare the enemy away. They do this by making themselves big. They raise their hair, arch their backs and stamp their legs on the branches.

Healthy diet

In the wild, white-faced lemurs eat mostly fruit. They have strong front teeth and canines. With these, they can bite open hard shells. Besides fruit, they also eat seeds, nuts and insects. In the dry season, fruit is scarce. Then lemurs eat mostly young leaves. Many fruits are eaten with seeds. These seeds they defecate later, allowing new fruit trees to grow.
