AquaZoo will teach via livestream
AquaZoo zoo will launch its own online, live learning program Monday: AquaSchool. Children can watch a lesson online from a zookeeper on school days at 11 a.m. via the livestream on Facebook and also ask questions and respond immediately.
Children are allowed to suggest their own topics. They can submit them via the zoo's Facebook page and also during the live broadcasts. "Now that children cannot come to the animal park, we want to bring the animal park to the children," says general manager Jeroen Loomeijer.
With AquaSchool, the zoo aims to offer children who are currently being taught at home a fun, educational lesson that can serve as a break from or supplement their own curriculum. Among other things, the animal caretakers will show feeding demonstrations online and talk more about all the aspects involved in caring for the animals.
Keeping up to dateDue to measures surrounding the fight against the coronavirus, AquaZoo is closed to the public until further notice. Loomeijer: "But the care of the animals will of course continue and it is nice to be able to involve children in this way."
AquaSchool begins on Monday, March 23, and the broadcasts will be on school days at 11 a.m. via a live stream on AquaZoo's Facebook page. They can also be seen back on social media and the zoo's website.
