AquaZoo Friesland and ZooParc Overloon again members of NVD
ZooParc Overloon has been a member of the Dutch Association of Zoos (NVD) again since July this year. Earlier this year, AquaZoo Friesland also became a member. Membership of the NVD is a hallmark for zoos and important for cooperation in the area of breeding programs, housing, sharing experiences, etc.
ZooParc Overloon and AquaZoo Friesland were acquired in February 2015 by Libéma, known for Safaripark Beekse Bergen and Eindhoven Zoo (both members of the NVD), among others. ZooParc Overloon has worked hard to revitalize the park. This has been achieved through an overall refurbishment, the introduction of the new theme 'Expedition' and the welcoming of new animal species, including tigers, penguins and lions. About 1.5 million euros has been invested in refurbishing and expanding the park. AquaZoo Friesland was also completely refurbished and added sea lions and polar bears to its collection last year. Libéma invested around 1.25 million euros here.
Stichting Wildlife
An important objective that NVD members, and thus also ZooParc Overloon and AquaZoo Friesland, work towards is nature conservation. For example, Libéma works with Stichting Wildlife to support projects abroad. To this end, various activities are provided in the parks, including guided tours. In the future, an adoption plan will also be established. For more infowww.stichtingwildlife.nl.
