AquaZoo Leeuwarden opens its doors to visitors again today

AquaZoo Leeuwarden opens its doors to visitors again today. After more than a month of closure, people can now come and meet the newborn white-faced lemurs and penguins for themselves.

The Frisian zoo had to close on Dec. 19 in connection with the lockdown. The cabinet decided yesterday to lift these measures. Visitors must still reserve a time slot, however, and a corona admission ticket is mandatory for anyone 13 and older. The park has a set walking route and mouth guards are mandatory in indoor areas. Catering facilities are fully open.

"It's great to be able to welcome people again," says general manager Jeroen Loomeijer. "People overwhelmingly need relaxation and zoos offer this in a safe, responsible way. We have a lot of space here, it is in the open air and in the past two years there has not been a single source of infection traceable to a zoo. In addition, of course, it's just a super fun outing."
