AquaZoo Leeuwarden gives Christmas trees a second life in new Colville area!
Christmas trees are usually thrown away after the holidays. AquaZoo Leeuwarden thinks this is a waste and is therefore offering these pine trees a second life. Trees-with root balls handed in on January 2 between 10:00-15:00h will be planted in the new Colville area in the park, which is expected to open in mid-2023.
The trees that can be turned in must be at least 1 meter tall and must not contain glitter or artificial snow. Since they will be planted, there must be a root ball on them. Submitters will receive a free ticket to the park (see all terms and conditions below).
General manager Jeroen Loomeijer: "Every year thousands of Christmas trees are thrown away in Friesland after the holidays. That is of course a great shame. We find it very important to deal with products as sustainably as possible. We are currently developing our new Colville area, whose name refers to the large river in Alaska. This area will focus on North American animals (raccoons, polar bears and Canadian beavers) and plantings. Pine trees are an excellent fit! So we would like to invite everyone to turn in their Christmas tree-with-clod to us, so they can get a second life with us in this beautiful new area."
