Stichting Wildlife joins forces with De Fûgelhelling foundation

Stichting Wildlife, a foundation affiliated with AquaZoo, is dedicated to various conservation projects. Through Stichting Wildlife, AquaZoo also contributes to the protection of wildlife species such as the polar bear and red panda. Recently, they also started supporting projects in the Netherlands. One of these is The Fûgelhelling foundation.

The Fûgelhelling has been providing assistance to sick, injured, weakened and parentless native birds and mammals since 1975. Every year, about 10,000 animals are taken care of that have sustained injuries. These are animals that, for example, have been hit in the street or flown into a window.

The Fûgelhelling catches and treats the animals. The ultimate goal of the shelter is to release the animals back into their natural environment. In addition to sheltering animals, The Fûgelhelling also provides education.

AquaZoo and The Fûgelhelling have been working together since last year. As part of that cooperation, there were multiple hedgehogs and swans released at the Leeuwarden Zoo.
