Since last year, AquaZoo has been coordinating the European studbook (EEP) of lowland tapirs in Europe.
Through the EEP for lowland tapirs, AquaZoo is working closely with Stichting Wildlife and withIPÊ (Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas) to protect this species in nature. Especially for you, we have translated this extraordinary documentary.
As the coordinator of a breeding program, it is not only important to ensure a genetically healthy population within zoos, but also to collaborate with other zoos for species conservation and jointly support a conservation organization.
