Let your from April 18 marvel at unique sand sculptures of lots of animals at AquaZoo Leeuwarden. Children can do a free scavenger hunt, build their own sand sculpture or play in a giant sandbox. Besides the animals made of sand, you will also come face to face with all the other special animals in AquaZoo. The educational presentations by the animal keepers and the many (water) play and climbing apparatus make the zoo very suitable for an outing with children or day out with the family. Starting April 8 at AquaZoo, you can see for yourself how sand artists are hard at work bringing the impressive animal sand sculptures to life. Admire their craftsmanship as they create the most detailed creations. A unique opportunity to witness the process up close, before the works of art are completely finished starting April 18.

Attention all sleuths! During Zand & Zoo in AquaZoo Leeuwarden you can participate in a treasure hunt. Scattered throughout the park are hidden sand sculpture eggs, each with a secret letter. Go on a scavenger hunt, collect all the letters and crack the secret word!

Did you know that many animals use sand to make their nests? And that's only 1 way animals use sand. Want to find out how else animals use sand? Then look for the sand signs near the animal enclosures and answer the questions. Behind each answer is a letter. Enter the letter of the correct answer below and you will find a word.

In the giant sandbox during Sand & Zoo, you can get to work as a sand artist yourself. With a handy step-by-step plan at hand, you'll create your own sand sculpture in no time. Whether you build a castle, animal or fantasy world, let your creativity run wild and create your own work of art.

Determine the final masterpiece!
One sandbox will remain closed for a while ... and you get to decide what comes out of it! Take part in the design contest and decide which animal sculpture should be made from the last sand. Download the design form and send your creation before May 31 to evenementen@aquazoo.nl mentioning "Design Contest Sand & Zoo" or hand in your design at the AquaZoo box office. The winner will be chosen in early June and on June 14-15, the winning design will come to life during the live build, which you may attend. Let your imagination run wild and design with us!

Enter the Sand Sculpture Contest during Sand & Zoo! Together with your elementary school, we challenge you to build a spectacular sand sculpture in your own sandbox. Send a photo of your masterpiece before May 31 to evenementen@aquazoo.nl stating "Elementary schools design competition Sand & Zoo". Your entry will give you a chance to win a free field trip at AquaZoo for the whole school! Which class will win the title of best sand builders?

Is your child's birthday coming up soon? Then celebrate your children's party at AquaZoo now! During Zand & Zoo at AquaZoo (from April 18) you can even book a Zand & Zoo children's party.
